Biography of The Church
Many years ago, God showed the General Overseer of Great Expectations Min. Int. (Bishop Dr. Kwame Owusu-Ansah a vivid picture of his future and revealed to him a Scripture in Psalm 62:5, ‘My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.’ The name of the Church was derived from the afore-mentioned Scripture.
God then told him, ‘I have given you a mandate to preach the Word of faith to the world. As you do so, great expectations will be born in the hearts of people which will in turn produce great manifestations in their lives.
Like the Apostle Paul, he was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. I started preaching in Dunkwa-on –Offin in the Central Region. God truly confirmed His Word as the blind saw, the lame walked, the deaf heard, mad people received their sanity, people who were possessed and oppressed by demons were totally delivered etc
Later on in March, 1989, God directed him to Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Great Expectations Ministries International (Gem Chapel Worldwide) was established on Sunday, 10th November, 1989 in a classroom at K.O. – Adum, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana with his family and some few converts.
It was later moved to Asokwa, where it was really established and noted for its annual 10-Days fast in January, Miracle, Deliverance and Prayer Services.
The Church went through a lot of persecutions, yet still there was the execution of the work of the Lord. As it is written, ‘I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. By the grace of God, the Church acquired land which is the present settlement of the Church. This is now the Present International headquarters of the ministry. We have other branches in Ashanti Region, Greater Accra Region, Central Region, and still trying to reach other parts of the world.

Train more missionaries to do the work of God and help take more territories for Jesus through regular Bible Teachings and our Bible Schools

Church Planting
Furthermore, we want to build Churches, orphanages and care homes to take care of the poor and the needy especially in the rural areas.

Clean Water
We want to drill boreholes for communities in the towns and villages of Ghana who have no access to clean and portable water.

More Churches
Raising at least one Church in every Regional Capital of Ghana

Gem Model Schools
We want to establish Christian Model Schools (Gem Model Schools) in every place where a branch of the Church is so that we can inculcate life-changing Kingdom principles in the children.

Spread to other Nations of the World the undiluted Word of God

Christian Literature
We also want to write and print more Christian literature to help Christians understand more about God. Our daily devotional “Fresh Fire for Today” has been a blessing to multitudes around the world.
